DISASTER MANUAL
The State Bar of Texas, Sidley Austin, LLP, Houston Immigration Legal Services Collaborative, Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, Lone Star Legal Aid, Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, and Disability Rights Texas have created a disaster manual for pro bono volunteers. The manual is used as a reference when handling issues that frequently arise during disasters – from giving quick advice and limited scope services to handling an entire case. State Bar of Texas Pro Bono Opportunity Portal: a statewide centralized pro bono portal for volunteer lawyers and law students to search and sign up for pro bono opportunties.
Texas Disaster Legal Help: a disaster portal developed by the three largest legal aid organizations in Texas - Lone Star Legal Aid, Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, and Texas RioGrande Legal Aid that connects pro bono volunteers to educational trainings, materials and volunteer opportunities during and in the aftermath of a disaster.

“BANKRUPTCY IN A BOX” PRO BONO CLE
The state’s three major legal aid programs — Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, Lone Star Legal Aid, and Texas RioGrande Legal Aid — are offering a three-hour online CLE course designed to help attorneys learn about Chapter 7 bankruptcies while helping others. The course is offered free of charge to each attorney who commits to take two Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases from one of the three legal aid providers during the next two years.
